I’m working on a solar collector underneath a synthetic grass field, and I want to know the effect of the solar load on the grass and what the temperature gradient of the underlying layers is. I have modeled a cross section of the collector field. The top layer is air, which is set to transparent in all the boundary conditions I’ve set for it. The walls of all the other layers I’ve set to opaque …

Nature Communications, Published online: 20 July 2026; doi:10.1038/s41467-026-75761-8 This work proposes a Ni foam composite solder layer, which not only optimizes the solder’s thermal expansion coefficient but also exhibits substantial plastic deformation during thermal shock, synergistically mitigating interfacial thermal stress.

Supercritical carbon dioxide (sCO2) has emerged as a promising working fluid for power generation and refrigeration systems due to its favorable thermophysical behavior near the pseudocritical region (Lemmon et al., 2018). However, in this region abrupt variations in density, viscosity, and specific heat introduce strong buoyancy and acceleration effects that complicate the heat transfer and pres…

While heat dissipation and thermal lensing in laser crystals are in principle well known, there are interesting details which are often encountered but not properly understood and handled. The article discusses how heating effects can depend on various parameters, and explains that proper laser designs can avoid a lot of trouble with such matters.
