On Tuesday, March 12, the IDW Education Building was alive with intellectual fervor as the Department of Surgery hosted its highly anticipated Third Annual Surgery Research Symposium. With over 75 attendees, including esteemed faculty, residents, and medical students, the event proved to be a resounding success, highlighting the cutting-edge research endeavors within the department.

Andre Ramdon, M.D., a fellowship-trained, board-certified vascular surgeon, has joined the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) as an associate professor in the College of Medicine’s Department of Surgery, Division of Vascular Surgery.

Six early-career researchers have been selected to receive two years of funded translational research training and support in the UAMS Translational Research Institute (TRI) KL2 Mentored Research Career Development Scholar Awards Program. The second annual UAMS Surgical Research Symposium was held May 9 with an enthusiastic turnout. We had over 50 attendees with 25 presenting posters.
