Account information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and a hashed version of your password. We never store your password in plain text.
Declared preferences: The sources and topics you follow are stored as part of your account and used to build your feed.
Behavioral data: We collect information about how you interact with the service during normal use. This includes:
Device information: We may collect basic device and browser information (such as browser type and operating system) to ensure compatibility and improve our service.
We use the information we collect to:
The sources and topics you explicitly follow are always used to build your feed. This is core to the service and is not affected by any personalization settings.
When personal recommendations are enabled, we use your behavioral data — clicks, views, saves, and searches — to surface content that matches your interests beyond what you explicitly follow. This feature is enabled by default.
We process this data under legitimate interests (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)): helping you discover relevant content is a core part of the service, and the processing is limited to that purpose. You can opt out at any time (see below).
You can disable personal recommendations at any time in Settings → Privacy & Personalization. When this setting is turned off:
Turning off personal recommendations does not delete your behavioral data — it is retained for other purposes (for example, your saved articles remain accessible and your read state is preserved). It is simply excluded from recommendation profiling.
The Service displays advertisements. By default, ads are contextual — they are selected based on the content you are currently viewing and the topics or sources you follow. Contextual ads do not use your behavioral data and do not require your consent beyond accepting these terms.
Personalized ads use your behavioral data (clicks, views, and searches) to select more relevant advertisements. Personalized ads are disabled by default and are only activated if you explicitly opt in via Settings → Privacy & Personalization. We process behavioral data for personalized ads under your consent (GDPR Article 6(1)(a)).
You can withdraw your consent for personalized ads at any time by turning off the setting. Withdrawal takes effect immediately — ads will revert to contextual targeting only. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing that occurred before withdrawal.
We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with the following categories of recipients:
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time through your settings, which will remove your personal data from our systems.
We use essential cookies and local storage to maintain your session and preferences. When you have opted in to personalized ads, advertising partners may set additional cookies to measure ad performance. No third-party tracking cookies are set unless you have opted in to personalized ads.
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (TLS), hashed passwords, and secure token-based authentication.
