Nature Communications, Published online: 26 May 2026; doi:10.1038/s41467-026-73458-6 Layered anisotropic 2D materials hold potential for the realization of compact polarization modulators. Here, the authors realize a Fabry-Perot cavity integrating two orthogonally stacked and independently gated black phosphorus trilayers, showing tunable polarization control and predicting electronic access to up to 86% of the Poincaré sphere.
