This project applies an interdisciplinary participatory approach to understand how adolescents living in rural areas understand sustainable development and how they engage in online and offline debates with these topics. The current literature on sustainable development are presented in a top-down manner, often focusing on urban contexts. The voices of (young) people in rural areas are often overlooked, despite the direct effect of sustainability transitions on rural communities and landscapes.
