Abstract Deep vein thrombosis is a condition in which a blood clot forms within the deep veins of the extremities. If this is not treated promptly, the blood clot has the potential to break off and travel to the lungs, causing a pulmonary embolism. This then becomes life threatening. This case was of a sixty year old female whose chief complaint was swelling in the right leg. This patient had no previous history of blood clots and was an active individual.
