I am a fourth-year physics major. Although I have decided to pursue a PhD in experimental physics, I am still interested in using simulations to tackle theoretical problems with toy models (e.g., tight-binding , XY model for BKT ). So, is it possible to do amateur theoretical research in the age of AI? I am not aiming to publish papers—I just want to satisfy my curiosity about frontier issues in condensed matter physics and make sure my understanding and work are correct.
is it easier to do amateur theorectical research in the age of AI?
