Achieving secure communication across disparate channels previously demanded complex optical adjustments; now, key rates of up to 0. 93 Mbit/s are possible using existing infrastructure. This advance transfers channel adaptation into post-processing, recovering an additional 19% key alone, and unlocks operation between 2km of optical fibre and 620m of open air.
