Zenodo. 2026Knowledge is generally studied starting from subjects, objects, and contents that are already sufficiently determined to enter into an epistemic relation. The Structural Temporal Theory of Knowability (STTK) proposes shifting the inquiry to an earlier level: not only how something comes to be known, but how something becomes knowable. STTK takes the Field of the Possible as the generative domain within which possibilities can emerge, differentiate, and organize themselves without already being constituted as determinate forms. The theory describes this process through a configurational dynamic in which difference, configuration, dynamic stability, the threshold of determinability, determination, accessibility, and reconfiguration constitute interconnected moments in the formation of the knowable. Configuration is not understood as a static structure, but as a temporal process capable of maintaining continuity through change. Temporality is therefore constitutive of form: what a configuration is at a given moment also depends on the history through which it has emerged and on the possibilities that this history continues to open, constrain, or transform. A central concept of the theory is that of an accessibility regime, understood as the set of relational conditions through which, within a given configurational environment, some possibilities become more readily distinguishable, interpretable, integrable, and transformable than others. Accessibility therefore does not constitute an absolute property of a content, but a dynamic relation among possibility, configuration, and environment. From this perspective, knowledge does not represent the originating point of the epistemic process, but one of the outcomes of a configurational history through which a difference progressively acquires articulation, stability, and accessibility. STTK extends this architecture beyond individual epistemology, applying it to the interaction between organism and environment, distributed cognition, language, culture, technology, informational environments, and artificial intelligence. The concept of the Epigenetic Infosphere describes, in an analogical and theoretical sense, the way in which informational environments can modify the conditions of accessibility through which certain differences are encountered, connected, and transformed. Technology and artificial intelligence are consequently interpreted not only as tools that enhance existing capacities, but also as configurational infrastructures capable of transforming the conditions through which new possibilities become accessible. The originality of STTK does not lie in the isolated introduction of concepts without precedents, but in their systematic recomposition around the problem of the generation of accessibility. The theory thus proposes a structural-temporal framework within which different levels — biological, cognitive, symbolic, cultural, technological, and artificial — can be analyzed through a common dynamic without being reduced to one another. The central thesis can be formulated as follows: every knowable form emerges through a temporally organized configurational history in which progressive differences stabilize possibilities and transform the conditions through which the possible becomes accessible.
