So I’ve finished a grand total of… drum roll… zero books this month. None. I’ve read some but just have not felt like reading all that much. I’ve been having a hard time getting into some books and just can’t find something that is hooking me in. But I’ve still come across a number of books that have been added to my list, including a few memoirs and history books, which look fantastic. Tell me in the comments: what is the best book you’ve read recently? I need some inspiration! Happy reading! by Dr. Ada Ferrer Published May 2026 from Scribner I love a good memoir and this one is showing up everywhere. I’ve particularly enjoyed immigration memoirs and this one might be something I pick up soon to try and kickstart my summer reading. by Theo Baker Published May 2026 from Penguin This book has really been everywhere in the higher education space yet I admit I have no idea what the event is that prompted this but I’m interested in finding out. I am a bit skeptical though — something about it feels like a media grab from the author, but I’ll have to read to find out. by Jessica Riskin Published March 2026 from Riverhead Books Oh how I love history of biology! Despite having read so much on this topic there is always something new to learn, a new perspective to take, that illuminates some aspect of the well-known narrative we all know. Honestly I’m not sure how I missed this earlier this year! by Tesla Monson Publishing April 2027 from Flatiron Books I came across this doing research for my own book and man do I not want to wait a year for this to come out! Give me all the evolution of primate books, please!
