A reconfigurable skyrmion device for communications and sensing applications

Nature Electronics, Published online: 06 May 2026; doi:10.1038/s41928-026-01612-5 A programmable topological platform is developed that uses eight positive–intrinsic–negative (PIN) diodes to dynamically control plasmonic skyrmions. This device achieves robust wireless communications in noisy environments and, when combined with a convolutional neural network, recognizes objects with 98.33% accuracy.
