The depreciation of the Indonesian rupiah against the US dollar throughout 2025 to mid-2026 generated substantial online discussion on social media platforms. Understanding the thematic structure of this discourse can complement existing macroeconomic analyses by revealing what concerns are expressed by online audiences. This study aims to identify the main topics in YouTube comment sections related to the rupiah depreciation and to analyze their distribution within the collected corpus. A total of 6,948 unique comments were collected from 20 purposively selected YouTube news videos on May 22, 2026. After preprocessing tailored for informal Indonesian text, 5,881 valid comments were retained. Latent Dirichlet Allocation was applied, with the number of topics selected based on coherence score evaluation across to under the specified preprocessing configuration. The model with 3 achieved the highest coherence score of 0.4919 and produced three topics: exchange rate and currency (41.7%), economic impact on the public (32.6%), and leadership and policy criticism (25.7%). The mean dominant-topic probability was 0.4611, indicating that most comments exhibit mixed-topic characteristics. The discourse captured in this corpus spans technical, socio-economic, and political dimensions simultaneously, with the majority of comments blending elements from multiple topics rather than focusing on a single theme.
