Academic libraries have faced multiple disruptive technologies in the last several decades. Disruptions can create job losses or changes in the types of jobs that an organization offers. To discover if there were any noticeable trends in job types, 368 job ads from the ALA JobList were examined in this study. Ads were collected from January to April in both 2024 and 2025. Job listings were categorized by type and trends in the job duties were examined. While the overall number of positions fell, tenure track faculty positions remained stable, and staff positions fell. All types of positions saw decreased numbers except for positions involved in scholarly communications.
