Barriers to and facilitation of long-term physical exercise participation among Chinese adolescents with autism spectrum disorder: a parental perspective

From a parental perspective, this study explores the main barriers and facilitation strategies associated with long-term participation in physical exercise among Chinese adolescents with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). A qualitative research design was adopted, involving semi-structured interviews with parents of 19 adolescents with ASD who had participated in physical exercise for more than 3 years. Interview data were analyzed using reflexive thematic analysis. The findings indicate that adole
