Evaporative Cooling Towers

Large evaporative cooling towers eject the equivalent of up to 20MW of heat, or 6000 tons, from the primary loop to the atmosphere. This waste heat ejection is the final step in the heat removal process for Frontier and other supercomputers using warm-water cooling. Credit: ORNL, U.S. Dept. of Energy
