The recent 25th anniversary of Ecclesia in Asia on November 6, 2024, underscores the need for a critical evaluation of its impact and relevance, hence the timeliness and necessity of this article. This article begins with the observation that Ecclesia in Asia primarily reflects the papal perspective rather than a genuine dialogue with Asian Churches, contrary to John Paul II’s assertion that the document is the fruit of his “encounter in dialogue” with Asian bishops. Additionally, it highlights
