Abstract Many organisms, including tardigrades, can survive extreme conditions. However, the mechanisms underlying this extremotolerance remain unclear. Here, we demonstrate inducible thermotolerance in the eutardigrade Paramacrobiotus sp., linked to its anhydrobiotic ‘tun’ state.
